PRACTICAL
IMMERSION & internship

A cross-department- training & work experience
5 days a week
~ 1'800 hours over 2 years

Students have the unique opportunity to apply in real-life experiences what they learn in theory classes.
Indeed, each semester, our students are being immersed in the Hospitality industry for two weeks to practice their new skills within our Resort, closely followed by a tutor.
Upon successful completion of their practical immersion, they are offered to join our various departments for a professional internship period in one of our restaurants and bars, or one of our three hotels. This gives our students a unique global experience in the hospitality world.

Villars Academy Students

A strong partnership with EHL to deliver core hospitality skills

École hôtelière de Lausanne, which is constantly recognized as the best hospitality management school in the world, has created the Vocational Education & Training by EHL. This programme is based on the Swiss Federal Apprenticeship System, which enables knowledge, skills, and mindset-based learning.

As a licensed training centre, we deliver the Professional Diploma in Hotel Administration by VET by EHL, which teaches the competencies and knowledge required to be fully operational across multiple departments of a hotel with a focus on administration. From Housekeeping, to Marketing, through Accounting or even Beverage Knowledge, our students get the theory and the experience needed for an administrative role within the management team of a hospitality operation.

The strength of the Villars Palace Academy is not only to deliver a diploma certified by the best hospitality school in the world but is also based on Professional French courses and unique contents we have created and designed to further develop our students' language and interpersonal skills.

While developing their French knowledge to obtain a Diploma in French for Tourism, Hospitality and Catering, they regularly attend modules and seminars based on leadership, entrepreneurship, sustainability and creativity & culture to learn about themselves and others in order to become tomorrow’s successful leaders.

Throughout their pathway, students work on different projects to develop their creativity and management skills further. Philanthropic projects with our sister foundation, creation of a pop-up restaurant, creative challenges and permaculture activities are only few examples of what our students have the opportunity to experience during their studies.

The Leadership module provides students with the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to strive in the workplace. Students focus on the development of the interpersonal skills needed to become effective and successful leaders.

The Entrepreneurship module gives students the basic tools, knowledge and capabilities to conceptualize and plan the steps to establish a business. Through real-life projects students can learn, practice and understand how entrepreneurs build their companies.
